Another Season is Upon Us

In the year we were actively traveling, we saw and did things most Americans haven’t, and we consider it a blessing to have the memories of that season. We’ve accomplished everything we initially set out to do but we still want more! Continue reading “Another Season is Upon Us”

Change is Inevitable – Lessons Learned On the Road

I’m compiling some of the lessons and interesting tidbits I’ve learned with the hopes of passing along useful information to fellow wanderers. Especially families of travelers similar to ours.

Life is what it is. It doesn’t take a break just because we’ve decided to step away and do things a little differently. In everyday life, situations and circumstances pop up along our paths forcing us to make decisions. Challenges and opportunities create a fork in our road, which is how Hyatt Family Adventures started in the first place. The truth is simple: there is always a choice; always options. We may not like our choices but that doesn’t change the fact the they are there. We could go back the way we came, continue with no change, start in a new direction, or forge our own way. The exciting/scary part comes from deciding on and then implementing a drastic change to the right, left or into the unknown.

Prepare to be Disappointed – Lessons Learned On the Road

I’m compiling some of the lessons and interesting tidbits I’ve learned with the hopes of passing along useful information to fellow wanderers. Especially families of travelers similar to ours.

Disappointment is a pointed thing. All your romantic notions of hiking along beautiful trails, seeing the wildlife and singing songs around the campfire are really just that; romantic notions. There’s not a lot of s’more making and animal watching as much as there are biting/ stinging bugs and footwear caked in mud forever. What we didn’t foresee is how 15-20 mph winds would affect our commitment to tent camping.

The truth is, we were afraid there were things we couldn’t do without. We were wrong about most of it. Continue reading “You Probably Brought Too Much Stuff – Lessons Learned On the Road”

Week One – Update

Sit-Rep: CJ just finished the first day of her assignment in Glendale, CA and I’ve stepped full-time into my role in this endeavor. Everything is proceeding as planned and we still have the better part of 8 weeks to get everything shipshape for the next step in our life-journey.

Over the next few weeks, the Tahoe will be getting some love before I commit to a trailer. I have my eye on a few that will do the trick but time will tell…

The countdown has begun and is nigh unstoppable. Not past the point of no return but I can feel it approaching.

Mom Hyatt – Blog 2: The Search Begins

This weekend we began to actively seek out our future home.

I had been keeping my eye on several travel trailers on Facebook Market Place over the past few weeks, and two really caught my attention.  So this weekend we were finally able to put in the offers, but just missed each one by a small margin of time.  Which is a bummer, but we’re okay with it.  Continue reading “Mom Hyatt – Blog 2: The Search Begins”
